Personal safety for women in Kenya

One tap.
Your people know.

WOKOKE alerts the people you trust the moment you need them, with your location. No confirmation screens, no delay, and it still works when you have no internet.

One-tap SOS Works without data Built in Kenya

Android app. Coming to Google Play.

Why WOKOKE

When something feels wrong, seconds matter.

Calling for help usually means unlocking your phone, finding a contact, and explaining where you are, often while someone is watching. That is too slow, and too visible.

WOKOKE turns all of that into a single tap. Your trusted circle gets an SMS that you need help, with a map link to where you are, and the app shows you exactly who was reached.

It is designed around how life really works in Kenya: alerts go by SMS, so your contacts do not need the app or internet to receive them.

Features

Everything you need, nothing that slows you down.

Five tools in one app, each built for a real moment.

One-tap SOS

Tap the big red button once. Everyone in your circle gets an SMS with your location. You feel the phone buzz when it has gone out, so you know without looking.

My Circle

Choose up to five people you trust: family, friends, a neighbour. They are the ones WOKOKE alerts. They do not need the app.

Safe Walk

Heading home late? Set how long you will be. If you have not checked in on time, your circle is alerted automatically with your last location, even if your phone is off.

Fake Call

A realistic incoming call, with your own ringtone, to help you leave an uncomfortable situation. It has a hidden SOS that can alert your circle silently while you are on the "call".

Report

Keep a record of an incident in your own words: what happened, where, and when, with your GPS location saved at that moment.

Honest by design

WOKOKE never says "sent" unless it really was. You always see who was reached and who was not, with Text and Call buttons for anyone who was missed.

No data? No Wi-Fi?

Your alert still finds a way.

Running out of bundles should never mean running out of help. If WOKOKE cannot reach the internet, it hands the alert to your phone's own messages app, so it goes out as a normal SMS from your line.

  1. 1You tap SOS. WOKOKE tries to send, and tells you straight away if it could not.
  2. 2Your messages app opens with the emergency text and your location already written.
  3. 3Tap Send. The next contact opens by itself, one after another.
  4. 4Call 999, 112 or the GBV helpline 1195 right from the same screen.
How it works

Set up once. Protected every day.

Add your circle

Add up to five trusted people. Type Kenyan numbers the way you always do; WOKOKE handles the format.

Tell them about WOKOKE

Let your circle know an alert from you is real, so they act on it at once.

Tap when it matters

One tap on SOS, a Safe Walk for the journey home, or a Fake Call to get away.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Do my contacts need to install WOKOKE?

No. Alerts reach them as a normal SMS with a map link to your location. Any phone can receive them.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. If WOKOKE cannot reach the internet, it opens your messages app with the alert already written, so you can send it from your own line as a normal SMS. You need phone signal and airtime or an SMS bundle.

Is there an "Are you sure?" step after I tap SOS?

No, on purpose. In an emergency there is no time for extra steps, and a phone can be taken. One tap sends the alert. If it was a mistake, tap "Cancel Alert — I am Safe" and your contacts are told you are safe.

What if I tap SOS several times in a panic?

Your circle gets one alert, not a flood. Tapping again within a minute shows you who was reached instead of sending another.

Which phones does WOKOKE work on?

WOKOKE is an Android app and is coming to Google Play.

Who is behind WOKOKE?

WOKOKE is built by WOKOKE Technologies, a Kenyan company working to make personal safety tools that fit the realities of women's lives in Kenya.
